Professor Kazuhiro Fukui of the Center for Artificial Intelligence Research (Institute of Systems and Information Engineering) and Mr. Yuki Nakamura, a first-year graduate student in the Master’s Program in Computer Science, Degree Programs in Systems and Information Engineering, have developed an AI-based soccer match analysis system and filed a patent application on May 26, 2026.
The system quantifies and visualizes formation analysis—previously reliant on the judgment and experience of coaches—using a high-dimensional mathematical framework.
They aim to bring the technology into practical use through collaborations with professional teams in Japan and abroad, including the J.League, and with sports tech companies.
